Does a killer deserve a happy ending? Coming Soon from Kathryne Kennedy

I just re-read THE ELVEN LORDS series of books, in order to immerse myself in the world again so I could write a short novelette. I had been ill for so long, so rusty, that I couldn’t quite face the challenge of writing a long novel. I wanted the new story based in the world, but not within the main plot line of the series. (I’m also thinking of doing a series of longer novelettes on the stolen scepters, which falls within the main plot of the series, since readers have asked me for those characters’ stories.)

Anyway, I don’t know if other writers are like me, but I imagine so. It drives me a bit crazy to read my books once they’re published. I always find things I would have changed, or something I would have added to make the scene more substantial or meaningful. And then there’s times when I read something that I am amazed I wrote. How did I manage it? And can I do it again?

And there, I guess, is the challenge to write some more. To surpass what I’ve done, if possible. And therein, I think, lays the addiction of being an author. :)

Although the story isn’t completely edited yet, I do want my readers to know that a story will (finally) be forthcoming. As usual, it combines hard fantasy with romance, and involves an assassin whose mark is not only aware he has come to kill her, but awake and waiting for him with an unusual request. The twists and turns have my poor hero a bit muddled, but I think he comes out of the encounter a different--perhaps even a better--man. Usually my heroes are not yet worthy of the love of my heroine. It takes the journey of their story to be the man the heroine can love and admire--and in the case of this new story--even if she’s not the one for him. The short novelette is titled THE ASSASSIN’S LOVER, and begs the question: Does a killer deserve a happy ending? Only you, the reader, will be able to answer it.

Jacqueline Noir’s debut short, #romantic #erotica is an Amazon Best Seller.

The first time those haunting gray eyes pinned her, they’d stared at her from the face of a creature that was supposed to only be a legend. A cliché.

When Sadie VonRouge moves to Casterton, Oregon to live with her aunt, she expected a sleepy little town; the perfect backdrop for her to start piecing back together her life. She wants nothing more than a normal start to her freshman year of college.

Normal is the last thing she’s going to get.

The night she was attacked, it’d been a wolf that chased her down. A wolf that tackled her to the ground. A wolf that began sniffing her. Then she’d opened her eyes, and she’d come face-to-face with him.

But she was delusional. She knew this. There’d been no man.

At least, that’s what she tells herself over and over, even while fighting back the memory of how sinfully gorgeous the man had been, or how viciously he’d growled out that one word:

Mine.

Sadie doesn’t know what is happening to her, or why she’s beginning to exhibit odd symptoms after the attack. All she knows is that her world has been drastically changed. She has no idea how much, or how serious that man’s claim was. Not until he comes back into her life, demanding the one thing that he owns above anything else.

Her.

And a dominating, scary, dangerous male that might just not give her any choice but to accept her new life . . . and the fact that he comes along with it.

“You belong to me. I own you. Forever.”

A #Promotional Opportunity for #Indie Authors I found out about at #ASU DevCon!

On March 21st I visited ASU WEST's DevCon, a cos-play SFF convention held on that weekend. Unlike most cons, entry was free, and if you'd like to know more, you can visit ASU's website here: http://devconarizona.com/

My son was involved with the club who set up the con, and although it's still small, it was a wonderful experience! They had an entire room set up with artists and authors and publishers, and fantasy/science fiction experiences galore! Outside, we sat and watched the cos-play competition, right next to a fountain in the seating area, along with a gentle breeze that made the weather wonderful! Here's some photos we took of some of the entrants and their fabulous costumes:

And for you Indie e-book authors, I ran across some information from one of the authors at the con. I copied the pamphlet to post for anyone who might be interested:

I don't have any other information than what is listed here, but it's pretty inclusive. Although this references Arizona, it sounds like this may be in other states, so you would have to visit your own state library for information. It sounds like a wonderful opportunity, so I just had to share!

My Magical Best,
Kathryne
